About the project

Odes Studio plans to introduce a new series of smells to embrace more colorful concepts as they move on from their first product, "White Smoke".

The new collection features 6 scents. Each smell will evoke memories and emotions through a variety of aromas—vintage bookstore, bamboo forest, houseplants, morning mist, rose bouquet, and Japanese cherry blossom.

What problem or opportunity was the project aiming to address?

Odes Studio uses plain packaging boxes for shipping convenience, but the brand is seeking an emotional connection with customers. The packaging must be versatile, so that the brand can reuse the packaging for future collections while ensure protection during transits.

How did I tackle the challenge?

Firstly, I conducted an interview with the brand's founder to tailor the designs to their preferences and best interests. The design went through multiple iterations on paper sketches, digital outlines, and paper prototypes.

What were the outcomes?

The packaging stimulates the customer's curiosity with hand-drawn illustrations. Opening the package reveals a thank you card.  The pedestal stand helps ensure the product's safety. Exchanging the thank you cards refreshes the packaging for every scent, so there's no need for new packaging.
