Anaplan UX Optimization

Transformation Enablement Intern @ HP

About the project

HP adopted Anaplan to revolutionize its planning and forecasting practices across the business. During the summer internship,  I explored digitizing Anaplan training methodologies to aid in accelerating the adoption process.

What problem or opportunity was the project aiming to address?

  1. Users need convenient and digestible trainings, so they can eliminate knowledge gaps. Not all employees would attend the live trainings and there were comments about training fatigue as they don’t want to sit through another 1 hour recording.
  2. Users need resource sites that are intuitive, because they want to easily locate information.

How did I tackle the challenge?

I identified the pain points by conducting a qualitative research based on previous user feedbacks from workshops and the program team’s interview.  From there, I crafted research hypotheses to uncover different themes of user concerns and pinpointed key insights to prioritize the pain points. I empathized with the users by documenting a “Current State” user journey map!

What were the outcomes?

The “Future State” of the user journey map demonstrate the simplification of the user experience and boost interactivity via WalkMe.

As a “quick-win”, I launched the WalkMe ShoutOut process for the business to push pop-up messages directly on the Anaplan platform to supplement the email notifications.

This way, users are not missing any training communications. WalkMe SmartTips is next to clarify and validate information within Anaplan!

Through the internship extension, I’m working towards the Anaplan look & feel to improve the pages’ user interface (UI). I've established a comprehensive style guide document for Page Builders, ensuring uniformity in design system implementation across all Anaplan pages while also documenting the information architecture.
